Water is life. Yet, millions of vulnerable families continue to suffer due to lack of clean drinking water, proper sanitation, and hygiene facilities. The Humanitarian Service Foundation (HSF) is committed to addressing this urgent need through its WASH Project, ensuring healthier communities, dignity, and sustainable development.
Why WASH Matters
Health: Contaminated water and poor sanitation are leading causes of preventable diseases such as diarrhea, cholera, and typhoid.
Education: Children, especially girls, often miss school due to lack of safe toilets and clean water facilities.
Livelihood: Families spend significant income on medical treatment for waterborne illnesses, reducing household stability.
Water Solutions We Provide
HSF implements a range of water access solutions tailored to community needs:
Semi-Deep Wells: Installed in areas where groundwater is moderately accessible, providing safe drinking water for villages and schools. Each semi-deep well benefits approximately 10–12 households.
Shallow Wells: Constructed in regions with surface-level water availability, offering
affordable and quick access to clean water. Each shallow well benefits approximately 2–3 households.
Community Wells: Large-scale wells designed to serve entire communities, ensuring equitable access and reducing the burden on women and children who often walk miles to fetch water. Each community well benefits approximately 15–20 households.
Each well is built with community participation, ensuring ownership, sustainability, and long-term maintenance.
Sanitation & Hygiene Initiatives
Construction of toilets and sanitation blocks in schools and villages.
Hygiene awareness campaigns focusing on handwashing, menstrual hygiene, and safe practices.
Training local communities in sustainable water management and maintenance of facilities.
Islamic Perspective on Water
Water holds a sacred place in Islam as a blessing from Allah and a right for all humanity. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:
“The best charity is giving water to drink.”(Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith 3684)
This Hadith inspires HSF’s WASH Project, reminding us that providing clean water is not only a humanitarian duty but also a spiritual act of charity and compassion.
